In the mail, sometimes, there is a letter that makes you frown. An odd-sized envelope, a mysterious postmark, an unknown sender... The mailman must have made a mistake. No, the address is correct: 64 Street Avenue, Calmtown. You either jump on it, like a wild beast pouncing on a scrap of meat, or you wait until you find the letter opener. Blaise uses his index finger to unseal the envelope, one foot on the doorstep of his house, the other on the doormat. He lets out a heavy sigh. He didn’t sleep well last night, so his blue eyes first skim over the letter sleepily. Then it hits him like a bullet: it’s signed by Dr. Loïc Chaveleau. A notification for a checkup. The formalities are all there: ...Dear Mr. Smith, our medical team would like to meet with you urgently to discuss something of the utmost importance... Two years ago, Blaise had undergone surgery when his skull was fractured after a stupid collision with a trucker who had mixed up left and right. The surgery had gone well. No complications. No migraines. His memories were crystal clear. To make a long story short, he had recovered like a champ, thanks, of course, to the outstanding surgeon, Dr. Chaveleau. So why this urgent appointment two years later? Blaise walks in brisk strides, his eyes riveted to his shoes. The anguish is there, churning in his gut. Doubt. Fearing the worst. It had to happen to him! He prefers to walk rather than to take a taxi. The oxygen irrigates his worried brain. The people he crosses on the sidewalk are merely vague silhouettes. Nobody can be the least bit of help to him. He is all alone, this letter in his pocket. Fear energizes his legs. “Things were not so bad, until today,” he tells himself, shivering. He turns right on Left Street, a calm, charming avenue with imposing noble and well-preserved stone façades. This kind of atmosphere, far from reassuring him, makes his heart beat even faster, like a drum roll. Blaise would like to turn around, but something prevents him from it. He wants to know. Even if this turns out to be the big blow that changes the course of his life for good. It’s happened to someone he knows. A serene guy, happy with his job, still in love with his wife, creative with his kids, and bam! Just like that: a cerebral hemorrhage. Order the coffin! Enough to scare you witless walking down Left Street. We never really know what goes on inside a skull. Unknown, artful mechanics to which laws cannot be found in any textbook. The mystery of the human kind. Well, here it is. Doctor Chaveleau, sporting his eternal snowy smile, welcomes him into his den with an iron fist. The entrance looks so much like a cathedral that it could easily be mistaken for one with its stained glass windows and its solemn atmosphere. Everything here, from the pearly doorbell to the Oriental rug, evokes a refined taste. Blaise remembers that in the basement, there is a hidden private clinic. - Welcome, sir. Would you follow me, please? In the surgeon’s office, a woman is lounging in an armchair. She locks eyes with him and welcomes him, batting her eyelashes. Haughty, sumptuous, terrifyingly beautiful to Blaise, who only knows this kind of women from magazine covers.
- Véronika, my assistant, Chaveleau says as he sits down behind his desk.
Blaise hesitates between a bow, a handshake or a hug. He simply murmurs:
- Nice to meet you...
- Please, have a seat, my dear friend. Coffee? Sparkling water? Whisky?

I really liked this story. It's funny and there's always somthing happening. It's not as "science fiction" as we are led to believe though. It's still realistic. Kudos!

The story is less medical but more breath taking than I thought it would be. The description doesnt really do it justice. Its very good and not too complex, just enough.

My sister bought a book from yours last year and she was real happy with it. So I thought "why not". I am very pleased with the result. I couldn't help but to read it before I gave it to my husband. It's good enough to follow and very surprising to see all those details you put in the questionnaire are very well integrated in the text. Awesome!!

My brother was so surprised when I gave him this book for his birthday. He really couldn't stop talking about it. I read it too, and it's really cool! The intrigue is great, the characters are amazing (of course, since they are us.... haha) Thanks!

I read all three novels you have and this one is my favorite. The story is fun and filled with suspense. I loved it!

It's amazing how many details about me this book contains. There's practically something on every page! My only suggestion would be to get more titles because I will soon have read them all... :)

I've always wanted to write a novel, it's aways been my dream. I never had the time to sit down and really write, though. So when I found this webstie, giving me the opportunity to get a real, printed book with my name and face on it, I just had to make one. I surprised my sister with it, she was relly impressed. I will make sure to tell everyone about this :)

I was very impressed by this company. I ordered my book on Monday and on Wednesday, I received a shipping notification. It was so fast that I even worried that something was off. But no, everything was perfect! They took the time to answer my questions about the process and all. I will definitely trust them again with my Christmas purchases :)

I bought a personalized novel from another comany a few years back, then I found yours. It's so much better! The customization is way more detailed. It's a bit longer to fill out the questionnaire, but so very much worth it! Thanks! I will talk about you to everyone I know :)

I heard about this concept on the radio. What a great idea! The books are really well made. It's like a book you'd buy at the bookstore, except that you are litterally in it!

Thank you for this wonderful website! My family and I are thrilled to have found you. I hope you get more book choices soon!

I received this book as a gift for my birthday. I don't really like to read usually, but this was great! I loved recognizing myself and all my friends. The details are amazing! I will definitely try to surprise someone with this like I was surprised. Thanks! Chris K.

Hi, I’ve made a book for one of my friends as a retirement gift. She hasn’t read it yet, but she couldn’t believe how truly personalized it is! I can’t wait for her feedback. I went through it a little, and it was so cool to see my name as the co-author and my picture. I had fun filling out the questionnaire and I hope to become the hero of a book soon, too! Have a nice day!
